Made to order from the fresh pasta station: tagliatelle layered with a rich Emilia-style ragù cooked for hours. Tossed with butter and served in a warm bowl. Represents the best of northern Italian technique.
Tips from diners
This is what homemade pasta with proper ragù tastes like. The butter finish makes it silky.
The classic panettone year-round at the bakery section upstairs: golden, studded with candied orange, citron, and raisins. Soft crumb, properly fermented. Buy a slice from the counter or a whole cake to bring home.
Tips from diners
Eataly's own brand is excellent. Try a slice before committing to a whole cake.
Soft, creamy burrata flown in from the dairies of Puglia, served simply with their own olive oil, fleur de sel, and warm focaccia for scooping. Eaten as a starter or light course.
Tips from diners
Don't add anything else. Good burrata needs no embellishment. Let it be the star.
A risotto made with real white or black truffle, depending on the season. Creamy, butter-forward, with earthy truffle aroma throughout. One of Eataly's premium dishes.
Tips from diners
Worth the price if you want to experience real truffle in a quality dish. The butter and Parmigiano make it sing.
Aged for three years, this Parmigiano is crystal-studded and complex, with caramel notes. Sold by the gram at the cheese counter. Can be eaten as a snack with wine or added to dishes.
Tips from diners
Try a small piece at the counter before buying—36-month is a big jump in price and flavor from younger versions.
Eataly Roma opened in the industrial Ostiense neighborhood as the flagship food temple of founder Oscar Farinetti's vision. The building has a restaurant with a view, a street-food level with standing counters, cooking school, wine cellar, and retail floor. It's part market, part museum, part dining experience.
Ground floor: fresh pasta and quick eats (standing counter). Middle levels: wine, cheese, oils. Top floor: full sit-down restaurant with a view.
Eat at the standing counter (ground floor) for €8-14 per item. The sit-down restaurant (top floor) is 2-3x the price.
Browse the retail floors while you eat. Eataly is as much a market as a restaurant.
